Mission of the Project
Greetings, everyone, and welcome to the Inclusion in U.S. High School Sports Storytelling Project!
The storytelling project, facilitated by researcher and 2023-24 Illinois in Partner Policymaking fellow T.J. Gordon, will encourage former high school student-athletes with disabilities to share their experiences in high school sports and insights & suggestions on how high school associations can expand the inclusion of student-athletes with disabilities in their sporting events and activities.
There are two sets of stories in the project:
- The Inclusion in U.S. High School Sports Storytelling series focuses on the benefits and power of inclusion in high school sports from a national level.
- The Inclusion in Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Sports Storytelling series highlights the stories and insights from former IHSA student-athletes with disabilities.
